一、高考中译英的概说

中译英是根据提示的单词或词组将句子从汉语译成英语，是对学生的英语词汇、语法、句型结构等基本知识和技能的综合性考查。相对于语法和词汇题来说，它是对学生的英语水平更全面的考查。在解题过程中，学生须掌握词的词性及搭配形式，并用符合英语习惯的句子结构表达中文意思。高考中中译句子每年各不相同，但用于中译英的考核点有一定的规律可寻。这里值得指出的是，任何一道中译英题除了明显的考点（括号中的提示词）之外，往往还有若干个考点，合理地识别句中的考点有助于我们在中译项目中取得好成绩。尽管一道中译英题文字不多，但要顺利的翻译好也不是轻而易举的事。同学们需要有扎实的词汇﹑语法等功底。下面我们结合若干年高考中译英试题对一些常设的考点进行分析，同时做些必要的说明。

二、高考中译英常考点分析

（一）以形式主语或形式宾语为主的考点

解说这类考题往往以两种形式出现，一类是括号中的提示词是“It…”，另一类是提示词虽不是“It…”，但分析原文后我们会发现该句在翻译时需要使用形式主语。

例1那些未曾去过那个小村庄的人很难描绘出它的美丽。(It…)

译文It’s very hard for those who haven’t been to the small village to describe its beauty.

解析括号中的“It…”明显地提示我们该句翻译时需要使用“形式主语”。

例2我没有想到汤姆会被选为学生会主席。(occur)

译文It never occurred/didn’t occur to me that Tom would/should be elected chairman of the Students’ Union.

解析本题中提示词虽然是动词occur，但要表示“某人想到某事”概念时，我们就要使用形式主语it。这种命题类型有一定的迷惑性，同学们平时在要多加积累。在以下情况下常需要用形式主语来翻译:

1. It’s +adj+of/for sb to do sth

译文I find it (is) hard to cooperate with those who always stick to their own opinions.

解析本题要求把it用在句中，因此我们既可用形式宾语也可用形式主语来翻译。是否需要形式宾语翻译往往取决于句子中的动词，含有以下动词的句子可考虑使用形式宾语翻译：

feel, take, make, find, hate, love, appreciate等。

eg. I would appreciate it if you could open the door for me.

I hate it when people speak loudly over their mobile phone in public places.

（二）以动名词做主语的考点

解说非谓语动词是英语动词用法中较难掌握的语法项目之一，以动名词做主语是高考中译英常设的考点。由于受中文的影响，翻译时常见的错误是用动词原形做译文的主语。这类句子的中文原文有个明显的特点：句首出现的是动词或动宾搭配；在语法上，这个动词或动宾搭配作后一动词的主语。英语语法知识告诉我们，动词原形不可以作主语，因此，遇到这样的试题我们可以考虑用动名词作主语来翻译。须指出的是，中译英中在考查“动名词做主语”时一般很难在提示词中得到暗示，同学们需对原文做分析作出判断。

例1勤洗手是避免疾病传染的有效方法之一。(infect)

译文Washing hands often / frequently /regularly is one of the effective ways to avoid being infected by disease(s).

解析本句的中文是“主(洗手)+系(是)+表(方法)”结构，对应英文的相同结构。翻译时基本上可以与中文在主要份分上一一对应。但必须注意要把动词“wash”变成动名词作译文句子的主语。本句翻译时另有一处细节请留意：副词修饰做主语的动名词时一般放在动名词或动名词短语后。另需注意的是，单个动名词或动名词短语作主语时谓语动词应该用单数形式。

例2充分利用时间并不意味着从早到晚不停地看书。(keep)

译文Making full use of time doesn’t mean keeping on reading books from morning till night.

解析本题中文的主语是“充分利用时间(make full use of time)”，对应的英文词组在句子中做主语，在翻译时写成动名词形式。

（三）以常见句型结构为主的考点

解说高考中译英题型中往往会设置一些学生们非常熟悉的句型结构作为考点，这些句式结构自身并不难，但对提供的中文原文需进行一定的分析才能真正用好用对这些常见句型。

例1 这部有关第一次世界大战的历史小说引人入胜，我简直爱不释手。(so…that)

译文The historical novel about World War I is so attractive that I can’t bear to put it down.

解析“so…that”是最常见的英语句型之一，意思是“…(是)那么的…以至于…”。原文中“爱不释手”的原因是这部小说“引人入胜”，我们可以把原文重新调整为“这部有关第一次世界大战的历史小说太(so)引人入胜了以至于(that) 我爱不释手”。

例2很多人身体有疾病时才认识到保持健康的重要性。(not…until)

译文Many people are not aware of the importance of being healthy until they are ill.

解析提示词中有否定词“not”，但原文是个肯定句。我们可以重新解读原文：很多人认识不到(not aware of)健康的重要性直到(until)身体有疾病。

（四）以连词为主的考点

解说考查连接词使用能力几乎是高考中译英中每年必设的考点。涉及时间、条件、让步等从句连词。

例1 请尽早做出决定，不然你会坐失良机。(or)

译文Please make up your mind as early as possible, or you’ll miss the good chance.

解析“or”做连接词时表示“否则、不然”的意思。经常与祈使句连用，表示“做…，否则（要不然）”。与之有相似用法的是连词“and”，在与祈使句连用时表示“如果…那么…”，如： Work harder, and you will make even greater progress.

例2 如果队员之间不加配合，我校篮球队不可能在决赛中战胜对手。(unless)

译文Our school basketball team will not beat the opponents in the final match unless the team members strengthen their cooperation well with each other.

解析“unless”是让步状语从句连接词，意思是“除非…”，在句中往往表示“要是前面的情况相反，那么就会…”。“如果队员之间不加配合”可理解为，“如果队员之间加以配合”。在翻译时我们要注意把原文中的意思相反理解。

（五）以动词或动词短语为主的考点

解说考查动词或动词词组的运用能力是中译英最常设置的考点之一。该考点有以下几个特点：1，所给动词或短语会引起句中其它句子成份发生形态上的变化，如后接动词可能需要使用动名词形式，有时需要使用某个特定的句型才能正确使用该提示词等等。2，所给动词有时需要与其它词（特别是介词等）搭配使用，但需搭配的词得由考生思考决定。3，有些提示动词较难在中文句子中找到合适的位置，需要考生细读中文原文后才能断定该动词代表原文中的那部分意义。

例1 我没有想到汤姆会被选为学生会主席。(occur)

译文It never occurred to me that Tom would be elected chairman of the Students’ Union.

解析“occur”在单独使用时解释为“发生、（情况等）出现”，但用于“sth occur to sb”时解释为“某人想到…”。这里值得注意的是，英文中有些动词在某个特点解释时不可以用人称来做它的主语。另如：“今天上班途中我遇到了一件怪事。(happen)”。这句话我们必须译成：A strange thing happened to me on my way to work this morning。如翻译成“I happened a strange thing on my way to work this morning.”则是典型的错误。

例2 这张照片使我想起了我们在夏令营里度过的日子。(remind)

译文The photo reminds me of the days we spent in the summer camp.

解析在表示“使某人想起…”时，remind需要与介词of连用。

（六）以名词或形容词为中心词的考点

解说以名词或形容词为提示词的中译英有这样的特点：提示词中的名词用在句子中时需要与其它词形成固定搭配；提示词是形容词时往往该句子要套用某个句型才能正确使用作为提示词的形容词。

例1 当时，那位出租车司机别无选择，只能求助于游客。(choice)

译文At that time the taxi driver had no choice but to turn to the tourists (for help).

解析要表达中文的“别无选择只能…”，英文里可以说“have no choice but to…”。单个的choice只表示“选择、选项”。

例2 如果方便的话，请帮我从邮局取回包裹。(convenient)

译文If it is convenient (to you ), please fetch me the parcel from the post office.

解析本题考查形容词convenient在句子中的使用。要正确使用好该词我们必须知道convenient一词一般不与人称做主语的句子一起使用，也就是说，不能写成If you are convenient…。这是convenient这类形容词的特点决定的。

例3 他最近心情不好，总是发脾气。(mood)

译文He is in bad mood recently and is always losing his temper.

解析mood表示“心情、情绪”。要表达心情好坏我们得说成“be in good/bad mood”。

（七）以倒装句型为主的考点

解说倒装句的考查我们从提示词的设计就可一目了然。提示词一般是“only”、含否定意义的词，如never, seldom, little, hardly等，且提示词的首字母常大写。当然这不是绝对的，是否需要使用倒装句翻译取决于提示词的性质和句意的需要。

例1 我们的祖国从来没有像今天这样强大。(Never…)

译文Never before has our country been so powerful as it is today.

解析在英文的表达式里，否定词或含有否定意义的词在句首时需要使用倒装结构。Never 属于含否定意义的词，且根据提示词的形式必须在句首，因此本句翻译时必须使用倒装结构。翻译倒装句时最好先把句子写成正常语序的句子，然后在改写成倒装句。

例2 他亲自到了中国后才意识到他对中国的了解是何等肤浅。(Only)

译文Only when he came to China himself did he realize how poor his knowledge of the country was.

解析本句要求在翻译时把only放在句首。按英语语法，only在句首时除了修饰主语外，要求句子使用倒装形式，且使用部分倒装形式。

（八）以成语、俗语为主的考点

解说成语和俗语是日常生活中常用的表达形式，它们增强了语言的色彩，更丰富了语言的表达力。成语或俗语的翻译往往难度较大，其主要原因是中文里的成语或俗语往往在英语里很难找到固定的表达式，有些成语或俗语在表达形式上有文言文色彩。这就要求我们在动手翻译前先吃透原文中成语或俗语在上下文中的确切含义，转换成普通语言的表达形式，如果具有文言文色彩的成语或俗语，先要将其转换成现代文的表达形式，在这基础上再把中文成语或俗语灵活地翻译成意义相对应的英语表达形式。

例1 他们应从这件事中吸取教训：玩火者必自焚。

译文They should learn a lesson from this incident: he who plays with fire will surely get bunt.

解析“玩火者比自焚”是俗语，表达形式有文言色彩。我们首先将该句转换成现代文形式：“玩火者必自焚”= “玩火的人必定会自焚”。这里的“人”是泛指，指“任何人”，我们可以选用英文的“one”或“those”表示，用定语从句翻译该句。

例2 请尽早做出决定，不然你会坐失良机。

译文Please make up your mind as early as possible, or you will miss the good/golden chance/opportunity.

解析“坐失良机”是成语，其中的“坐”无具体意义，“坐失”等于说“失去”可用“lose”来表示。“良机”的意思是“好的机会”，可用“good chance”或“golden chance”。译文中提供了good或golden; chance 或opportunity，两者选其一即可，无本质差异。
